The particular ACS angle measuring system

Measuring the angle in the sheet metal working is crucial and this is the reason why Darley developed ACS Laser, a groundbreaking method used by the latest models of press brakes which, in addition to using mechanical measurement methods, gives a steady and highly accurate estimate of the bending angle.In its 75 years of experience in the manufacturing of high-quality machine tools, Darley  has realized that creating such an accurate system results in enhancing product quality and saving a great deal of time.Darley resolved not to use solely mechanical methods to measure the sheet angle, but to make some sensors come in contact with the sheet itself.This is how the ACS Laser system saw the light. It is one of the world’s most advanced systems, which guarantees a level of accuracy, which was unknown before.The bending cycle is completely unmanned, thus the ongoing input (or feedback) provided by the measurement by means of ACS Laser allows a real-time adjustment of the bending cycle avoiding that random deviations (in plate-thickness, surface impurity or temperature) influence the end-product.The bending cycle is therefore constantly monitored and adjusted according to the ACS Laser measurements.

The application range has yet been extended as the measurements carried out are integrated with those from the ACS Sensor: a bending measurement method which is based on the traditional mechanical system, eliminating every margin of error.

      ACS-1: a sensor which measures a position and adjusts the Y-axis.

      ACS-2: two sensors which measure the left and the right of the press beam centre and adjust the Y1 and Y2 axes separately.

      ACS-3: by using three sensors, as the ACS-2 does, only the third sensor measures the middle of the product and by means of an anti-deflection system (ADS) it ensures that the bending angle is consistent along the entire sheet length.
